Capt. Gary Venet's Biography

Hello, my name is Gary Venet.

I would like to introduce myself and my business to you.

• I am the Owner/Captain of Rec & Tec Dive Charters Inc. a dive charter service operating since 2002 on Lake Huron.
  
• The vessel " Sylvia Anne " is a 2002 Wide Beam 360 custom built dive boat by SeaHawk Industries Inc. located in Sebring, FL.
  
• The vessel is operated on Lake Huron, MI. Our homeport is Port Sanilac, MI.
  
• The vessel runs dive charters to the wrecks in the Sanilac Shores and Thumb Underwater Preserve.
  
• The business operates from May 15th thru October 15, seven days a week depending on weather and sea conditions.
  There are morning and afternoon charters to the various wreck sites.
  
• I retired from the Macomb County Sheriff Office as a Detective / Sergeant after 27 years.
  
• I have a Great Lakes and Inner Coastal Captains license for operating vessels up to 100 tons.
  
• I have worked for our Marine Division as a full time and part time officer since 1979. Patrolling on Lake St Clair, Detroit River, and the St. Clair River enforcing State Marine laws, Search & Rescue, Boating Accidents and Drownings. A State Certified Boating Safety Instructor since 1980.
  
• I was on the Macomb County Sheriff Underwater Search & Recovery Dive Team since 1979. I served as Team Leader / Instructor since 1986.
  
• I am a Master Scuba Diver Trainer Instructor for PADI.
